How to Apply
Who is eligible?
Any tax-exempt, nonprofit organization or government entity - using the funds for charitable purposes and proposing a project meeting PCCF's mission to improve the lives of all residents of Pottawattamie County - is eligible to apply. 

As part of the verification process, your organization will be verified through the IRS online database and the Secretary of State's Business Entity Search. Prior to submitting your application, you may check the status of your organization with the Secretary of State at www.sos.state.ia.us. We are unable to accept applications from organizations with a delinquent status. 

What is the deadline? 
Completed applications and required documents are due by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2017.
Incomplete, incorrect and/or unsigned applications will be returned.

What are the criteria?
Projects are selected based on:
    - Their focus on a specific issue
    - Ability to meet a clear, identifiable need
    - Creativity
    - The operational strength of the application organization, including project leadership
    - Their ranking when compared with other applications received during the funding cycle

PCCF's Funding Limitations include:
    - Clinical or medical research
    - Contributions to capital campaigns
    - Organizations that practice discrimination by race, color, creed, sexual orientation, gender, age 
       or national origin
    - Operating deficits or retirement of debt
    - Fund drives
    - Real estate acquisitions
    - Political projects of any kind

  
How are applications reviewed?
Grant applications are reviewed by staff and an independent panel of reviewers from across the county. Our Board makes all final funding decisions. Grants are for amounts from $500 up to $2,500. The Foundation wants to support as many programs across the county as possible; therefore, smaller grant requests are encouraged. Due to the high volume of applications received, PCCF may not be able to  provide an oral or written explanation for denied applications.
